Lost in the darkness

· 3 min read · Justin Stucky

It seems like daily I run into people who are really struggling with alcohol and or anxiety and depression. Talking to each of these people is like looking in a mirror from a dark time in my life and i instantly feel for them and want to do everything in my power to warm their heart and try to help them see the positive things that are going on in their life. I try and point out great qualities that person has and I try to tell them that I might seem positive always now, but there was a time in my life that everything was dark and I had no will to live.

I actually wanted death and when I can see that in others faces, I truly feel a call to action. One I try to bring up the Gospel and ask them if they have a relationship with Jesus and then I tell them about my personal experience and how Jesus coming into my heart and the wonderful news of the gospel brought a whole new meaning of love and grace to my life and my life has never been the same. It seems more and more people are suffering and life is too short to suffer. Jesus died for our sins and even though we weren’t worth we receive everlasting life and can experience true glory bliss and love while on this earth.

Having this light come into my life has drawn me to people suffering and I just be there for them and listen to them intently and let them know I truly care with all my heart and know how bad the pain can be. I think about in the bible how God would leave the flock to recover one lost sheep. I see these lost souls and I know God weeps and wishes for these people to bring Jesus into their hearts and feel the fullness he provides to the empty parts of our hearts we so badly try to fill with everything else when it is only meant for his love. Like trying to put together a puzzle with the wrong piece.

A full loving heart can only be filled by the love of Jesus Christ. He has saved me in ways I cannot begin to explain and the continued grace my family and I receive on a daily basis amazes me. I am a sinner. I still sin even though I strive to be righteous, we all fall short but are forgiven by the beautiful gift God sent us in Jesus. There is nothing in life that can be quite as awful as what Jesus when through to save us but he did it knowing the future souls he was saving. Let Jesus in your heart. Lay all your troubles on him and feel the weight lifted off you.

Walk by faith, not by sight and trust in God fully. He will lead you to where you should be and he will fill your life with glory and grace and love. Be lights in this dark world and shine brightly upon those in the dark. Reflect with them through your own dark time and give them the confidence and guidance to shine as bright as they can and continue to brighten dark souls and rid this world of the wicked darkness that engulfs it.
